WHO WE ARE

WHAT WE KNOW

We are living in a fast changing reality: a growing population, loss of biodiversity, climate change, urbanization, water scarcity, under- and malnutrition & food crisis, to name a few. What we also see: rapid digitalization, personalization of diets, increased diversity, new models of working, new ways of managing resources, property or finance – and the willingness to change to the better – across generations.

Clearly, we are facing huge challenges, but this does not mean that we cannot do something to improve the future of societies. The lens of food is an entry point for that change to the better. A common vision and a call to action is needed!

WHAT IS Bites of Transfoodmation 

Bites of Transfoodmation started as a Swiss project that brought together a unique, diverse group of young and motivated people to develop a unifying vision and engage in a transformative process of change for a more sustainable, resilient and equal future of food systems. This group of young people comprising students, researchers, activists, farmers, chefs, architects, nutritionists, athletes, food entrepreneurs and simply consumers put their experiences, knowledge and ideas into words in the form of the Bites of Transfoodmation Manifesto. The Manifesto was presented at a “Dispute”, a Swiss-type controversial debate, attended by high-level food systems experts. Since then, Bites of Transfoodmation members have been invited to various events to talk about the project and present their shared vision. In addition, Bites of Transfoodmation presented viable ideas and concepts for more sustainable, resilient and equal food systems in a series of Snack the System events.

 After three years, the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations organisations in Rome officially ended its engagement in the project and handed it over to the Bites of Transfoodmation Association, which was founded in December 2022.

OUR MISSION

The aim of the association is to act globally and unite people, projects and institutions behind the Transfoodmation Manifesto to enable a transition to more sustainable, resilient and equal food systems from which people all over the world can benefit.
